Exemptions
Graduates of CTA1 Foundations will gain one elective subject exemption from the Bachelor of Taxation qualification at the Australian School of Taxation & Business Law (Atax) at the University of New South Wales.
CTA1 Foundations course materials will provide the required skills and knowledge, to prepare a candidate to sit for the TPB-approved GST/BAS Challenge Exam required to register as a BAS agent.
Progression
Completion
On successful completion of CTA1 Foundations, candidates will receive a certificate of completion. Please contact your local state office for graduation ceremony details.
Academic pathways
On successful completion of CTA1 Foundations may choose to progress directly to CTA2 Advanced, which offers exemptions for the Tax Module of the Chartered Accountants (CA) Program and the Taxation Segment of the CPA Australian Program.
Together, CTA1 Foundations and CTA2 Advanced contribute to the two-semester Course in Australian Taxation Law qualification as approved by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) for registering as a tax agent (please refer to the TPB website for registration requirements).
Additionally, the Institute offers a range of continuing professional development (CPD) seminars and events, as well as tax publications, to continue your learning and development throughout your career.
Membership pathways
On successful completion of CTA1 Foundations candidates are eligible to apply to become an Associate member of the Institute.
