Social Activities

Taking part in the social activities at the National Convention is a much about networking with colleagues as it is about enjoying the local surrounds.

The social options are included in the full Convention registration fee for delegates. Additional tickets are available to purchase for accompanying persons, guests and single day delegates.

Wednesday 12th March 2008

Official Convention Opening at The National Wine Centre
Time: 6.00pm – 7.00pm
The National Wine Centre, Adelaide
Dress: Smart Casual

All delegates are invited to attend a cocktail reception at The National Wine Centre, Adelaide to mark the Opening of the 2008 National Convention.  The National Wine Centre is an architectural treat which is located on the edge of Adelaide’s Botanic Gardens. The Official Convention Opening is a chance to catch up with colleagues, rekindle past friendships and meet fellow delegates.

The Official Convention Opening is included in the full Convention registration fee for delegates, and additional tickets are available to purchase for accompanying persons, guests and single day delegates.


 

Free Evening – Adelaide Restaurants
Time: 7.00pm onwards

At the conclusion of the Official Convention Opening discover the high quality restaurants Adelaide has to offer.  Detailed information of local restaurant options will be provided closer to the convention.


 

Thursday 13th March 2008 - Social Afternoon

OPTION 1: Adelaide Golf Links
Time: 4.30pm – 10.00pm
Dress: Golf wear

Play nine holes of golf at The City Adelaide Golf Links. The Golf Links is set in the picturesque North Parklands and is one of the most magnificent golfing settings in Australia, with a manicured course amongst 100 year old gum trees and native plants. After your game, you will be greeted with drinks on arrival at the Club House and will then enjoy a causal dinner.

OPTION 2: Adelaide Zoo
Time: 4.30pm – 10.00pm
Dress: Casual with comfortable walking shoes

Bring your family along for a special evening at Adelaide Zoo. The Zoo will be closed to the public, providing guests with an exclusive, tailored guided through the Zoo. The tour will end at the Rotunda where guests will enjoy a casual al fresco dining experience with some family entertainment. The casual family atmosphere is perfect for those delegates with children and of course animal lovers alike.


 

OPTION 3: Adelaide Sailing Club
Time: 5.00pm – 10.00pm
Dress: Casual with white soft sole shoes

Join us for an evening on the water. Adelaide Sailing Club is situated at the lovely Holdfast Shores Glenelg. You will be greeted with drinks on arrival at the Club and after a short briefing you will be given the opportunity to participate in a twilight sailing regatta. At the conclusion of the regatta a casual dinner will be served in the function room.

No sailing experience is needed to enjoy this activity!

OPTION 4: Penfolds Magill Estate - SORRY SOLD OUT
Time: 5.30pm – 10.00pm
Dress: Smart casual

Penfolds Magill Estate was established in 1844 by Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold, and is still a working winery today. Experience the home of Australia’s most famous wine, Penfolds Grange, with a winery tour and tastings. After the tour, you will enjoy a sumptuous dinner in Penfolds Magill Estate restaurant, overlooking the Shiraz vine and city lights of Adelaide beyond.

OPTION 5: Art Gallery of South Australia
Time: 6.00pm – 10.00pm

The Art Gallery of South Australia holds one of the countries finest art collections with around 35,000 works housed in one of Adelaide’s most beautiful historic buildings. Collections span the period from Ancient Rome to the present day and will be sure to impress any art lover.  Enjoy a self guided tour around this impressive venue before relaxing over a delicious dinner in the restaurant.

Join the fun at the Circus at the Convention Dinner
Time: 7:00pm – Midnight
Adelaide Convention Centre
Dress: After Five

This year’s dinner is all about the circus, “Greatest Show on Earth” atmosphere. Your senses will be awakened with fun, colour and some of the fine food and wine that Adelaide is known for. Then in true Convention Dinner tradition kick off your shoes and dance the night away!
