A proposal to remove a tax break on rental property investments in New Zealand ran into problems days after Finance Minister Michael Cullen first proposed the idea. Cullen raised the idea in Parliament on June 19 and argued the case again at a select committee hearing on June 20, presenting figures that showed 100,000 taxpayers taking advantage of this tax loophole.
