In this volume, Sydney business economist Mervyn Fiedler provides an objective study of a form of taxation which is common in Western Europe, Asia and South American countries, the merits of which had recently been the subject of comment in Australia. In his summary of issues canvassed in the paper the author refrains from expressing a firm view whether Wealth Tax should be implemented in Australia, but casts doubt whether the yield of such a tax warrants the large administrative effort necessary for its implementation.
Mervyn R. G. Fiedler, M. Corn., (Melb) A.A.S.A., A.C.I.SF..,A .I. I., is a business economist with a large Australian financial institution.
