The impact on SMSFs where there is a change in the residential status of the trustees
Published on 25 Aug 06 by WESTERN AUSTRALIAN DIVISION, THE TAX INSTITUTE
With the advent of contemporary work practices, overseas postings and assignments have become regular practice and therefore advisers need to be aware of the many taxation, financial and superannuation issues which can arise. One of the main issues which have not been well documented is the impact on Self Managed Superannuation Funds where trustees have changed their country of residence. This presentation highlights these issues and discusses the implications as well as the position of the Australian Taxation Office.
