On 12 March 2009, the Senate passed Tax Laws Amendment (2008 Measures No 6) Bill 2009 (formerly called Tax Laws Amendment (2008 Measures No 6) Bill 2008) without amendment.

The Bill was introduced into the House of Representatives on 3 December 2008 and passed with Government amendments on 25 February 2009: see 2009 TAXVINE No 7 (27 February 2009). The Bill amends the ITAA1997 in relation to roll-overs for corporate restructures; the ITAA 1936 and ITAA 1997 in relation to the income recovery subsidy and other matters relating to the 2009 Victorian bushfires or North Queensland floods; the Taxation Administration Act 1953 in relation to the collection or conservation of tax debts owed in foreign countries; the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 in relation to the late payment offset for superannuation guarantee contributions. The Bill also makes minor amendments to 6 other Acts and repeals the Pay-roll Tax Act 1941.

The Bill now awaits Royal Assent.
