The ATO has published a factsheet entitled "ABN applications - how to reduce phone calls about main business activity". It explains how unnecessary phone calls from the ATO can be avoided by providing a detailed description of a client’s main business activity when lodging an Australian business number (ABN) application, and provides examples of detailed descriptions for some common activities.
