The ATO has published answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the proposed legislation relating to the taxation of superannuation lump sum payments to the terminally ill. The Government announced on 11 September 2007 that lump sum superannuation benefits paid to members with a terminal illness will be exempt from tax: see 2007 TAXVINE No 36 (19) (14 September 2007).
