09 Sep 099 ATO action on lost super accounts

The ATO has advised tax professionals that it is contacting taxpayers to advise of lost super that may belong to them. If an agent's tax practice phone number or address is listed as their client's contact details, they may receive the phone call or letter.

The ATO recommends that to avoid unnecessary contact with agent's practices and help it provide this information directly to taxpayers, agents should include clients' contact details when lodging their income tax returns. This can also be done via the Portal.
