In a media release issued on 1 November 2006, the Commissioner, Michael D’Ascenzo, announced the appointment of Professor Robin Creyke as an independent Integrity Adviser to the ATO. “I have asked Professor Creyke to ensure our processes provide procedural fairness for taxpayers and our staff and that we use complaints and other suggestions to address potentially systemic issues,” Mr D’Ascenzo said. “How we go about better living our values is also part of her brief.”
Professor Creyke is an expert in Administrative Law at the Australian National University where she holds a range of positions in senior management. She is also a part-time member of the Administrative Review Council.
Mr D’Ascenzo also paid tribute to former Integrity Adviser Peter Kennedy who served in the role for the past 5 years.
