The ATO says it welcomes the Australian National Audit Office's (ANAO) performance audit released on its program of system and business process improvements, generally referred to as the "change program".
The ANAO’s report - The ATO’s implementation of the change program: a strategic overview - makes 4 recommendations, namely, that:
- the ATO fully utilises its available assurance framework for the Change Program work to be completed;
- the ATO strengthens aspects of contract management;
- the ATO establishes a robust performance management framework related to ATO activity transformed by successfully implemented Change Program products;and
- the ATO improves the strategic management of the Change Program in relation to the work to be completed by 2010–11.
The ATO says that it agrees with all 4 recommendations and has already improved its assurance framework, end-to end testing, governance reporting and further defined the roles and responsibilities for Accenture and its staff.
