20 Jun 088 Member feedback on revised Tax Agent Services BillSince reporting to you last week on the Taxation Institute’s processes for eliciting member feedback on the draft Tax Agent Services Bill 2008 and associated material (see 2008 TAXVINE No 23 (2) (13 June 2008)), we have recently run feedback sessions at our June Breakfast Clubs in Sydney (Hurstville and Chatswood) and Melbourne (Hawthorn).
Members attending discussed a range of important issues, particularly around the practical administration of the proposed regulatory regime. We have also received a number of responses to our questionnaire focusing on key issues of concern in the Bill. Thank you to all our Members who have provided us with your valuable feedback at these sessions and through the questionnaire – your feedback is the foundation of the Taxation Institute’s response to this Bill to ensure our submission reflects your views and concerns.
As all practitioners providing tax services will be affected by this Bill, we strongly encourage all members to have their say. As our submission is due to the Treasury next Friday 27 June 2008, it’s not too late to send us your comments. If you haven’t already had a look, we have prepared a questionnaire that focuses on key areas of concern with the draft Bill. Would you please return your questionnaires with your comments by 23 June 2008.
