MEMBER 2 writes, in response to feedback from Member 1 in last week's TAXVINE - see 2008 TAXVINE No 41 (31) (17 October 2008):

"I have had several instances such as you mention in the past and now I NEVER send anything to the ATO except by registered mail. I know that this is more expensive but the extra cost is outweighed by the fact that as soon as you mention that such and such document or letter was sent by registered mail on a certain date and offer to obtain proof of delivery from Australia Post the missing document often miraculously turns up. Just a thought."
