"Does the ATO purposely make it so difficult for us when handling "complex" matters? I lodged an objection to a Notice of Assessment on the 28/10/09 via the Portal. The response time is meant to be 56 days. 62 days later I have to call them every day, I have to explain the situation over again so I can find out the status of the objection. I was told the matter was "escalated" - another way of saying I have no idea what you're talking about and I'll pass the buck to someone else. I have yet to hear back from anyone. When will the ATO become accountable for their deadlines? If I was to write about every experience I have had with the incompetence of the ATO it would become a full-time job and I am sure that most other tax agents would be in the same boat."
