"Love TAXVINE and like many others look forward to the weekly read and the Member Feedback section. The ATO must also be congratulated for their response (sometimes) to Member Feedback items.
One issue that I have seen increase recently has been the loss of documents, forms or letters sent into the ATO via mail. In most cases we try and lodge electronically through ELS or the Portal but in some instances manual lodgment of form, document or letter is required. In the last 6 months we have experienced the loss of Private Ruling Request letters and forms, MCS Surcharge forms, ATO Settlement documents and Amendment Requests. These have all been sent to the correct ATO postal address (which may vary depending on the issue). A call to the ATO usually results in “you must wait for the 30 day service standard” before anybody will confirm or deny receiving the documents, then we go through the process of completing again, signing and lodging all over again. A very frustrating and time consuming exercise for all. There appears to be a very large black hole in which correspondence to the ATO seems to gravitate!"
