"After all these years we are still getting stupid outcomes with the PAYG system. A taxpayer is voluntarily registered for GST (turnover well less than $75K) and has elected to lodge Annual GST returns. However, as the taxpayer is registered for GST (even though voluntarily remember), he cannot elect to pay his PAYG annually, even though less than the magical $8,000. So he has to pay a whopping $335 PAYG each quarter. Sounds very much like more the ATO’s version of "SIMPLIFICATION" to me!"
