The ATO Receivables Policy is the principal document for ATO administrative policy on lodgment, accounting, debt recovery (including insolvency law), registration, related penalties and interest charges. The ATO says that the revised policy is now easier to read and navigate, and the legislative references have been streamlined.
Changes that may be of particular interest include:
- a new section covering tax file number, goods and services tax, and Australian business number registrations, and
- new debt chapters on administrative overpayments, cross-border recovery and settlement of debt recovery litigation.
