On 20 June 2006, the ATO sent a broadcast message to tax agents advising them that the Tax Practitioner Group has moved to the new Tax Practitioner and Lodgment Strategy line under the stewardship of Deputy Commissioner, Shane Reardon. The ATO says that the elevation to deputy commissioner responsibility follows a review of how it manages its relationship with tax practitioners and is consistent with the ATO's recent comments about the importance of the role that tax practitioners play in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the tax system. Supporting Shane in the new business line will be Assistant Commissioners Murray Crowe, Bruce Thompson and Rob Walsh. They will ensure that the Tax Practitioner and Lodgment Strategy line will continue to focus on effective consultation, collaboration and co-design with tax practitioners.
