Is the Tax Office widening its crackdown on lawyers and accountants?

Recent press reports have concentrated on the ATO’s attitude to three key areas of tax planning
undertaken by professionals - the use of:
- service trusts
- partnerships of discretionary trusts
- incorporated legal practices.
The Deputy Commissioner of Taxation (Small and Medium Enterprises) outlined the Tax
Office’s views on these subjects.
