- focus on investments by Australian property trusts in continental European real estate
- overview of main continental European tax issues and their solutions
- examples include Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and Spain.
Matthijs works as an international tax advisor with Loyens & Loeff (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) and is a lecturer at the Institute for Law and Finance of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität (Frankfurt am Main, Germany). His main field of expertise is the structuring of cross-border investments within the EU. He has extensive experience in structuring pan-European property investments for European as well as Australian funds. Matthijs will be on secondment with Greenwoods & Freehills in Sydney until the end of 2006.
