Business ethics in action: study shows the value of corporate ethics

Ethics and morals, with their attendent intimations of professionalism, integrity and objectiviey, are becoming increasingly important features of the Australian business lexicon. However, recent publicity suggests that in some professional areas such codes are more honoured in the breach than in the observance, or even that some business activities fo not require ethical behaviour. An impressive recent publication dealing with ethics and business is Study 8 Codifying Power and Control - Ethical Codes in Action produced by the International Federation of Accountants was released in May, and is available on the Internet. Their findingss relate to thirteen codes of conduct in eight corporations in four countries including Australia.
