On 10 March 2006 the New South Wales Supreme Court handed down its decision in Leda Pty Ltd & Anor v Weerden (No.2). This case is important for tax advisers as it deals with the duties and responsibilities of professionals advising clients on matters involving complex tax issues. The case highlights the importance of taking sufficient time to give advice, making sure that client is clearly made aware of what matters are the subject of the advice, what matters are excluded from the advice and any qualifications or assumptions relied upon in the advice given.
