Publication date: 09 Dec 09 | Source: THE TAX INSTITUTE

The new Tax Agent Regime will significantly affect every tax agent in Australia - over 28,000 tax agents.

CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business has joined forces with the Taxation Institute of Australia to help tax agents navigate these major changes which will start to apply from March 2010.  This is the first formal partnership between Australia’s leading tax publisher and the leading  professional association in tax.

The partnership will result in a new book, the Tax Agents Manual due for release in January. This new publication deals comprehensively with the fundamental changes to the law governing practice as a tax agent resulting from the introduction of Tax Agents Services Act 2009.  The book will also include a CD containing the Tax Agent’s Compliance Toolkit which will provide practical help for tax agents to avoid the pitfalls of the new regime.

Staffan Wensing, Managing Director of CCH Australia Limited said, “We have enjoyed working with the Taxation Institute to give tax agents the information they need as the legislation changes. We have worked hard to make sure the book covers all relevant aspects and that it is a practical guide to these important changes”

CEO of the Taxation Institute, Noel Rowland, said “With the combined strengths of the leading professional association in tax and the leading publisher in tax, the Taxation and Institute and CCH are ideally positioned to address the new tax agent regime. With our Mission to build on the expertise and status of all tax professionals, this new publication will ensure all tax practitioners are aware of their requirements under the new Tax Agent Services Legislation”.

The book will be packaged with the roadshows on the new regime to be held by the Taxation Institute in early February 2010 in eight locations around Australia.

CCH will be a sponsor at key Taxation Institute events next year, including the National Convention to be held in March 2010. CCH is also an ongoing sponsor of the Taxation Institute’s  Structured Education Program.

As part of this new partnership CCH will be looking to provide Taxation Institute Members with exclusive member benefits and special offers.
