Australia’s premier professional tax body, the Taxation Institute of Australia, today congratulated Dr Michael Dirkis on his appointment as Professor of Taxation Law to the University of Sydney’s Law School.
Taxation Institute CEO, Noel Rowland, said “The University will benefit greatly from Michael’s extensive experience gained at the Institute. He has been a tireless advocate for improvements in tax policy and administration representing the views of the Taxation Institute Members and the tax profession at large”.
Recent areas of focus for the Taxation Institute have been on the review of Australia’s future tax system, more commonly know as the ‘Henry Review’, the Government’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, native title, the new regulatory framework for Tax Agents, and the TOFA reforms to modernise the taxation of financial arrangements.
“Working with Michael has been a great pleasure and I am extremely grateful for his loyal and dedicated service to the Institute and the taxation profession for the last 10 years” Noel Rowland added.
