02 Jul 10 ATO Briefing - Tax Time 2010Angie Ananda FTIA attended the ATO Briefing for Tax Time 2010 on Thursday, 1 July 2010. The ATO indicated that everything was still progressing in line with the timetable and that so far there are "no show stoppers".
The ATO also reported that e-tax for Tax Time 2010 has commenced and is available on-line. The ATO have already received approximately 1,600 returns and have commenced processing these returns. All Tax Time 2010 instructions are now available on-line except for the instructions for trusts and partnerships which will be available from the week beginning 12 July 2010. All Tax Time 2010 calculators are available except for the foreign income tool (ie the 23AG tool) and the dependent spouse calculator, which will be available later today and 5 July 2010 respectively.
Additional fact sheets providing more explanatory material in relation to Notice of Assessments and Statement of Accounts will be available on the website by the end of today.
Finally, the ATO advised that they have employed and trained an additional 900 temporary call centre staff to manage calls in relation to Tax Time 2010.
