09 Jul 10 ATO Briefing - Tax Time 2010
Angie Ananda FTIA and Tamera Cockerill ATIA attended the ATO Briefing for Tax Time 2010 on Thursday, 8 July 2010
The ATO have advised that the production pilot for Tax Time 2010 remains on track.
No issues have been identified with 2010 income tax returns and the ATO expects to move to normal processing on Monday 12 July 2010.
There are two issues which were identified during June where the processing of 2009 or earlier years income tax returns may take longer than our service standard to process.
These relate to:
- An issue was identified with Income tax returns lodged after 28 June where the taxpayer is over 60 years of age and there is an amount returned at label 7 Y - "AASIS lump sum in arrears taxable component taxed element". We will advise you when this issue has been corrected to allow these assessments to be issued.
- An issue was identified with Income tax returns lodged after 24 June (either originals or requests for amendments) that involve a compulsory HELP or SFSS repayment. We plan to issue these assessments following changes that will be made by 19 July.
