The ATO advises tax professionals that from September 2014, its call centres will advise tax professionals to use online services for transactions or information that is available through ATO online channels.

Where transactions and information is available on the Portals, Standard Business Reporting (SBR), Australian Business Register (ABR), the electronic lodgment service (ELS) or the electronic commerce interface (ECI), the call centre staff will advise which channels can be used.

The ATO will continue assisting tax professionals and their staff with services that are not available through online channels. The ATO will also assist when its systems experience issues preventing tax professionals from using online services.
