20 Dec 12 ATO warns of scam email - do not open
In media release No 2012/54, issued 19 November 2012, the ATO has warned that a phishing email claiming to be from the ATO is currently circulating.
The scam email appears to be from an ato.gov.au email address and displays as being sent from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
The email subject is: Tax Agent Report – Delayed Tax Returns.
People should not open the email as it contains malware. It should be immediately deleted.
The ATO has shut down the email address and is investigating the scam.
