19 May 1010 AUSkey implementation and Tax Agent Portal unavailability
In a broadcast message to tax agents sent on 17 May 2010, James O'Halloran, Deputy Commissioner, Tax Practitioner and Lodgment Strategy, referred to the closing of the Portal between 9pm EST 14 May 2010 and 8am EST 16 May 2010, and said:
"We acknowledge that our advice to you about the unavailability was not made in time to allow you to adequately plan to deal with this change to Portal access. We are aware the portal downtime required to implement AUSkey may have impacted your ability to submit returns, forms and requests through the Portal."
Mr O'Halloran continued:
"Usually for those returns due on 17 May (15 May was a Saturday), you would need to lodge a self assessed deferral request by 17 May. We recognise the impact that last weekend’s interruption may have had on your ability to make these requests and will continue to accept self assessed deferral requests through the portal until close of business 21 May 2010.
Any lodgment deferral requests made after 21 May 2010 will need to be lodged using a Request for additional time to lodge form, including supporting reasons for your request."
