Extra time to lodge for individuals and businesses affected by natural disaster
14 Feb 2011
In media release No 2011/09, issued 11 February 2011, the Commissioner, Michael D'Ascenzo, announced additional time for tax-related lodgments and associated payments for individuals and businesses affected by the recent natural disasters.
This includes the lodgment of monthly activity statements since December 2010, if not already lodged, any income tax lodgment and payment obligations since December, quarterly activity statements (but does not apply to large Pay As You Go withholders) and lodgment of superannuation guarantee charge statements for the December 2010 quarter.
“All December and January monthly activity statement lodgment will be deferred until 21 March 2011, and all December (Q2) quarterly activity statements lodgment until 28 March 2011. This includes any other lodgments due on 28 February 2011 which will be deferred until 28 March 2011,” Mr D’Ascenzo said.
Individuals and businesses in affected postcodes that previously received deferrals for December monthly activity statements to 21 February 2011 will now have these deferred to 21 March 2011, if they are still in the affected postcodes.
The deadline for superannuation guarantee charge statements for the quarter ending 31 December 2010 has been extended from 28 February 2011 to 28 March 2011. This removes the risk of employers in those areas from being penalised for late lodgment.
