14 Jun 2019 Feedback to the ATO regarding ‘Message via Portal’

In response to me as Member 129 (TaxVine 19, 24 May 2019), the ATO advised in the following edition of TaxVine: ‘We welcome and encourage feedback on the new Online services for agents system… We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible. This will enable us to systematically investigate any issues like that raised by Member 129.’
So, in the interests of the ATO, I ATTEMPTED to do as they recommended. Unfortunately, the ATO kept rejecting my efforts. The system does not accept certain keystrokes. No clue was given as to which keystrokes were unacceptable. It was a process of elimination, by changing and to keep amending until my feedback did not fail the communication test. It is difficult to comply with the ATO’s request for feedback when it just involves more frustration.
As a small practitioner, TaxVine is a valuable tool and Member Feedback is integral to that. I appreciate being warned of the problems experienced by other advisers.
