24 Jun 13 Fuel tax credit rate changes from 1 July 2013
During June 2013, the ATO is writing to tax agents who have clients who have registered for fuel tax credits, to advise that fuel tax credit rates will be changing. From 1 July 2013, taxpayers may be affected by:
- some rate changes due to increased carbon charge amounts
- a rate change for fuels used in heavy vehicles for travelling on public roads
- rate changes for transport and non-transport gaseous fuels used in certain activities.
The letter also advises that the fuel tax credit rate for liquid or gaseous fuel used to power auxiliary equipment of a heavy vehicle travelling on a public road is not reduced by the road user charge or the carbon charge.
