"Credit where credit is due. Many of the items in the Member Feedback are critical of the ATO. I’d like to report one that was very positive.

I rang the ATO to discuss an issue relating to a PSI issue. I had completely researched the matter but was not completely comfortable with the conclusion. As this was adverse to the client, I wanted the ATO’s view. I rang the tax agents’ line and discussed the matter with an operator and we reached the same conclusion I had, although we were both a little uncomfortable with that conclusion. Some 20 minutes after concluding the call, the ATO operator rang me to advise the he thought further about the matter and had undertaken some more research. He provided me with a link to some ATO material that gave the answer that was favourable to the client."
