On 24 January 2012, the ATO sent a broadcast message to agents advising that two technical issues have been identified with the Tax Agent, BAS Agent and Business Portals following the upgrades to the ATO's PAYG and FBT instalments processing system.

Agents may receive a technical error message when attempting to:

  • view or lodge activity statements via the BAS Agent or Business Portals
  • view the Integrated Client Account via the Business Portal.

The issue occurs when:

  • an activity statement has issued before a final income tax return has been processed
  • a final income tax return has been received and there are still activity statements to be lodged for the client.

The ATO says that it is working on a solution and will keep agents updated via the System maintenance and issues page.
