The ATO has advised that it has engaged an external research organisation – DBM Consultants – to conduct research to increase its knowledge of how agents influence their clients’ lodgment behaviour and what they believe are the key lodgment obstacles clients face.
DBM Consultants will conduct two research projects:
- qualitative research with individual taxpayers and tax agents who have non-business clients
- quantitative research (by online survey) with businesses with a turnover of less than $10 million and tax agents who have clients in this category.
For the qualitative research, DBM Consultants will contact randomly selected tax agents by phone to invite them to participate in face-to-face interviews or phone interviews, or contribute to online bulletin boards between April and May 2010.
For the quantitative research, they will conduct an online survey with randomly selected tax agents and businesses with less than $10 million turnover between April and May 2010.
