"To all the readers and to the staff at The Tax Institute and also to the ATO staff (especially the good ones) have a Merry Christmas and great New Year.
Receiving TAXVINE every Friday is the top of the week as it helps me to realise that I am not the only one dealing with a mindless mass called the ATO.
No rhyme nor reason for what they do, no quality control, no thought for saving my dollars (let alone the taxpayers’ dollars).
I love the letters from the ATO telling clients their PAYG Instalment has changed from $0 to $0, the letters advising of bulk activity statement mailings which consist of 1 activity statement, the letter that says if you lodge a tax return today for 2011 you cannot amend it tomorrow because it is more than 2 years old.
My Christmas wish is that the ATO employ some staff with common sense who believe in quality control. Perhaps now that they are pushing everything out to the Agents we can be put on the ATO payroll to help defray our costs!
May you all have a Happy and Holy Christmas, may God bless you all, and may you all return refreshed in the New Year to continue the fight against the evil entrenched at the bottom of the Pothole."
