25 Oct 12 Michael D'Ascenzo's term as Commissioner of Taxation draws to a close
In joint media release No 2012/102, issued 24 October 2012, the Treasurer, Wayne Swan, and the Assistant Treasurer and Minister Assisting for Deregulation, David Bradbury, recorded the Government's thanks to Michael D'Ascenzo for his service to the nation as Commissioner of Taxation as he completes his seven year term at the end of this year.
The Government also announced Mr D'Ascenzo will next year become a member of the Foreign Investment Review Board.
The Treasurer said that a new Commissioner of Taxation will be appointed and announced in the coming weeks.
In media release issued on 24 October 2012, The Tax Institute farewelled Mr D'Ascenzo and congratulated him on his new appointment at the Foreign Investment Review Board.
"We thank him for his many years of distinguished service which have ensured sound tax administration. Under Michael's leadership, the ATO has built upon its record of excellence, which is recognised both in Australia and overseas,” The Tax Institute’s CEO Noel Rowland said.
