MEMBER 1 agrees with the comments made last week - see 2008 TAXVINE No 23 (26) (13 June 2008) - by Member 2, who said: "I gasp in wonder at the processes the ATO must have in place for their collections. I have clients with appalling records, owing thousands, and we never hear a peep from our beloved revenue collectors. However, if someone with a great payment history gets a mere $455 behind on their integrated account and doesn't catch it up over a four month period, the debt gets sent to D&B." MEMBER1 writes:

"Agree totally with Member 2’s assessment of the situation. We have the same problem. “Good clients” who normally pay on time and may have overlooked a payment are being targeted by D&B or the ATO direct but others with large amounts outstanding over a considerable time frame do not seem to be bothered by the ATO until they are way out of control."
