The ATO responds to an issue raised by MEMBER 65 in 2014 TaxVine No 18 (30 May 2014) about dealing with the ATO.
“We ask our staff to follow certain procedures but we also provide flexibility for tax officers when speaking with tax payers and their advisors to tailor the conversation when unforeseen circumstances occur. In this circumstance, we would have hoped that the tax officer would manage the request when they became aware that a deferral application had been lodged. We continue to work hard to improve our service to taxpayers and your feedback will help us in this regard.”
