More on delays when making requests via the Portal
MEMBER 148 writes:
"We requested the ATO for a waiver of late lodgment penalty on 8 August 2014 via the ATO Portal. Since then, 6 weeks have passed with no response from the ATO. There are 15 other requests pending since then.
On an earlier occasion, we had to call the ATO and discuss another penalty and they remitted it for that other client after the telephone call.
The ATO is asking us to maximise our use of the Portal. What are their standards? Are they short of staff so there are delays?
If we, as Tax Agents, do not reply within the time specified by the ATO, the ATO will impose penalties. What are we meant to do?"
