MEMBER 280 writes, in response to Member 269's comments in last week's TAXVINE - see 2013 TAXVINE No 48 (13 December 2013) - about difficulties accessing the Portal becauise of Java software supposedly not being up to date:

"I had the same issue as Member 269, some 3 weeks ago.

After contacting ATO, I was advised it was an issue with the recent IE 11 update from Microsoft.

It would appear that the Internet Explorer and attached Java in the update is not compatible with ATO software. Only suggested solution from the ATO was to update Compatibility Settings in IE 11.

No time frame given as to a fix on their part. Nor any general advice issued to Tax Practitioners.

It seems that the rest of the world is yet again ahead of the ATO in software versions."
