"Can anyone explain to Barry why he has an "Assessed Tax Payable" amount of $244??????? I have received six of these today - NONE of them make any sense to me let alone the client. Why is it going to take till September this year to "fix" some of the problems with NoA???

I have also received a NoA with the following information applying:

Normal Lodgment due date 15.05.10
Commissioner’s concession 22.05.10 (Saturday)
Return Lodged   24.05.10 (Monday)
Date of Assessment 31.05.10
Date NoA received  03.06.10
Date Due for payment 08.06.10

When queried with the ATO they said the 8.6.10 is based on the 15 May lodgment due date.

James O’Halloran’s email of 4 May 2010 specifically says the date due will be "per the NoA" - which I understand is always 21 days plus 3 after Date of Issue.

Could "someone" please let the Manager of Debt Collection know that (in my opinion) all these assessments have an incorrect due date - the one I received today is due 24 June 2010 not 8 June 2010."

TAXVINE COMMENT: Section 204 of ITAA 1936 is the relevant section. What is the "due date for lodgment" in these circumstances?
