You think 28 days is stiff. I called the ATO to chase up a tax refund for my client and was advised that due to the large amount of the refund it had been chosen for review. I was told this could take 12 weeks and that a letter should have been sent out informing us that the return was chosen for review. I advised that we had not received any letters on behalf of the client and would like to organise for a copy of it to be sent to us. I was told that she would not be able to find the letter in the system and that no one was able to assist me. Great "service" there!

The return for review has a trust distribution, donations and PAYG instalments and I get told it takes 12 weeks to complete a review. At the same time, I'm also expected to lodge outstanding Business Activity Statements for another client ASAP. I agree with you Member 348, the ATO has no common business courtesy and there appears to be no improvement in sight."
