"In the current issue of Taxation in Australia at p 620, our President says: 'Our hope is that the difficulties are past'.
Sorry, the problems are still current. Three weeks after lodging electronically, some assessments arrived in 10 days but other clients were still listed as 'Not Lodged'.
The call centre advises there is a problem but returns will be processed by 11 June 2010. For those who were processed, there is no indication of an EFT date. One is still 'Not Lodged'. This still indicates bugs in the system.
We are also waiting for credit for early payment of interest shown on 2008/09 Income Tax Return. We are hoping that the ATO will be third time lucky in paying the interest."

"I lodged a client's 2009 tax return on 22 April 2010 and the assessment notice arrived today 17 June 2010, with a debt to pay in excess of $30k and a due date for payment of 8 June 2010. Are we expected to produce a payment advice from the Portal and forward it to the client and expect the client to pay their debt without a formal assessment notice. I did have this matter escalated a number of weeks ago and the ATO did contact me but could not advise when an assessment notice would issue. What a stuff up, but then again we are getting used to these continual stuff ups."
