Taxation Institute Tax Counsel Deepti Paton ATIA and Elizabeth Lucas FTIA (Grant Thornton) attended the NTLG FBT Subcommittee meeting on Thursday, 12 August 2010. Issues on the agenda included, section 23AG otherwise deductible rule fly-in-fly-out arrangements, no private use declaration for business travel greater than five nights, prepaid novated lease payments relating to a novation that has ceased, safety awards and minor benefits rule, exempt benefits relating to Australian traineeship system, broadband costs and section 58X FBTAA, temporary accommodation, childcare, thresholds, FBT guide for employers, car benefit examples for FBT Guide for Employers, FBT treatment of shared cars and FBT risk and compliance update.

We will advise of the outcomes of the meeting in next week's report.
