The new Online Services Portal is confusing to say the least.
A new client, I find, has an overdue tax return for the June 2013 year. I verified with the client that a “Return Not Necessary” advice would be correct. The new Online Services stops me from lodging a RNN advice as the taxpayer has an ABN. The inconsistency is that the ABN was issued in November 2015. So I went back to the old Portal and had a RNN advice processed immediately. Come on ATO, you need to do better than that to be ‘helpful’ to the tax profession.
