I am continuing to have problems with taxpayers’ accounts on the new ATO Online. Now that the old one is closing very shortly, this is now critical. 

I act for a lot of taxpayers who have issues with overdue lodgments and payments. In the old portal I can go back to 1 January 2000 if I need to, which is quite often. With the new ATO Online, at best I can only go back 2 or 3 years. 

When trying to negotiate settlements and determine penalties and interest, it is very unsatisfactory. If I am dealing with the Early Intervention people I stand a chance of getting a breakdown of pure tax debt, interest and penalties separately, in most cases. However, they can’t email me a copy of the complete account, but it must be mailed. 

If I am dealing with a collection firm, I have no hope of getting anything except a shrug from the operator. 

I am now spending a lot of time downloading the full accounts from the old portal to be able to handle my clients’ affairs. 

Am I alone in this?
