02 Aug 11 New proof of identity (POI) procedures
The ATO advises that it has made changes to the proof of identity (POI) requirements for registered agents, with a view to reducing the risk of misrepresentation of an agent by an unauthorised third party securing their agent number and client details.
Specifically, the ATO has removed the requirement for personal details when verifying POI with registered agents and will now ask for details that relate to the client's interaction with the ATO.
