"On behalf of a client, we lodged a Private Ruling Request. That was July 2012. We received a negative response from the ATO in August 2012. The response actually bore no resemblance to the issue in the Private Ruling Request (commercial property/investment issue) as it referred to Charter boats. Cut and paste methinks.
We lodged an objection to the decision in October 2012 detailing the inconsistencies in their original decision and seeking a review.
To date, we have received nothing from them (despite it being escalated).
On following up yesterday, we received the following information from them - and I quote from the email that I received from one of my senior people this morning when I asked about the progress:
'Yes, quite hilarious actually. They confirmed this week they have made their decision but want to review it before passing it on. They cannot give us a time frame on this. I messaged [client] yesterday to let him know. Joke.'
If we treated the ATO like they treat us, what would happen?"
