"Overnight the ATO has announced the release of its 2013 forms. How exciting! Can I obtain a PDF? No. I can look at the 'sample' but that is not permitted to be used for lodgment. Why is this? Why not just put the PDF of the actual form on the website? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is frustrated by the availability of those dumb 'sample' forms that cannot be actually used. Can I order paper forms? No, these forms don't exist according to the online ordering system. So why bother telling us that the forms are available, when they are NOT available, other than the 'samples' that cannot be used? Last year it was almost 3 weeks from when the 'forms available' announcement was made until I could actually obtain some paper forms. I truly hope this trend will not be continued this year. Can The Tax Institute advise whether the concession for use of 2012 forms applies this year for December 2012 early balancers in lieu of June 2013? I can't find any guidance on this on the ATO website. I realise that December early balancers are probably the minority, but they are still a reality for many tax agents like myself."
